Manuela Vieira

HEAD OF SECONDARY SCHOOL

Manuela is an enthusiastic, dedicated educational leader who has a vast experience of over 30 years in an international setting, in both North America and Portugal. Her background is in teaching Geography and Environmental Management. One source of pride is having had a former student achieve a Top of The World Award in the Cambridge Exam for Environmental Management. Even better, was knowing that most of her students were very close to that Top of the World grade! She truly believes that all learners have many skills and talents beyond what their marks may indicate and that it is up to the teachers to bring out the best in everyone. Besides teaching, which Manuela is passionate about, she has been part of a Coordination Team for the past 17 years.

In her free time, Manuela loves going for walks in the countryside, heading to the coast on weekends, playing card games with friends and spending time with her grand children.

Manuela is excited by the vision and mission presented by LIS and in her role as Secondary Coordinator and Project Based Learning Coordinator, she looks forward to the challenge of new holistic methodologies which embrace different cultural perspectives. Being curious, creative, courageous, resilient and innovative is the key to empower all learners to be the best learners they can be!
